Job Title: Hope Rising Residential Caregiver PDF
Reports to: Program Director
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Supports patients of the Emergency Assessment Center through every day routine and structure as well as assisting during crises.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following

- Assist with every day routine tasks and structure such as meals, hygiene, chores, etc.
- Assist during times of crisis by intervening in the crisis or supervising other children at the facility while another staff handle the crisis
- Transport patients to appointments such as medical exams, family visits, etc.

- Provide crisis intervention as needed to prevent escalation of high-risk behavior, relapse, hospitalization, placement disruption, and other negative outcomes.
- Document observations in data management system.
- Assist with management of behavior problems as they occur using methods approved by Hope Rising and TDFPS.
- Participate in required pre-service and annual training.
- Assist in supervision of children/youth, knowing their location to keep them safe.
- Demonstrate responsibility, maturity and role modeling in all interactions with other staff and patients.
- Follow Hope Rising policies as well as RCCL Minimum Standards and RCC Contract Standards, at all times.
- Personal restraints may only be used as a last resort, when all other de-escalation and behavior intervention techniques have been exhausted and fail, and the child is an imminent danger to self or others.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
The Residential Caregiver must be at least twenty-one years of age. Ideally possesses experience in working with children. The ideal candidate will have excellent writing skills for documentation. The Residential Caregiver should be able to develop trust with patients in order to provide effective care for children at the Emergency Assessment Center.
EDUCATION, LICENSURE and/or EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
Ability to document daily notes and serious incident reports. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a clear, concise, effective manner.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written or oral form.
Valid Texas driver’s license, appropriate insurance and reliable car.
Must successfully pass all background screens as required by the state.
