SUMMARY

The Training Manager prepares for and conducts selected mandated training for all employees. Responsibilities include maintaining current knowledge and certifications to assure delivery of current and accurate information in an adult learning environment. Participates in the planning and development of specialized training, staff development, and continuing education programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

  • Conducts classroom instruction as assigned in accordance with established curricula.
  • May be periodically assigned to morning, evening, weekend/holiday and out of town training hours to meet training needs.
  • Plans and develops curricula and course outlines; selects instructional methods; and develops training aids, manuals, and other materials.
  • Assesses and analyzes training needs.
  • Formulates learning objectives, and plans, designs, and develops methods for the assessment and evaluation of training effectiveness.
  • Organizes and prepares materials and supplies for training courses such as notebooks, handouts, flip-charts, projectors, laptops, or other resources.
  • Researches, develops, reviews, and assesses training programs and materials, and recommends modifications as appropriate.
  • May coordinate training presentations and provide training or technical assistance to other agencies and provider organizations.
  • Performs related work as assigned.
  • Maintains willingness to accept additional responsibilities as assigned.
  • May be scheduled to work as caregiver in some instances

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Experience in training/teaching work in a classroom environment, preferably in a psychiatric healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of training procedures and techniques; of education principles, practices, and techniques; of learning management and learning content management systems, of group processes, group dynamics, and interpersonal relations; and of instructional and curriculum design.
  • Skill/experience in oral and written communication, in instructing others, and in using a computer and applicable software.
  • Ability to formulate learning objectives, to develop training objectives, to assess the effectiveness of training, to assess training needs, and to communicate effectively. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the ministry.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with occasional variables.

Other Requirements

Valid driver’s license, appropriate insurance and reliable transportation.

Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug test.

Must submit to and pass random drug tests during employment.

Must successfully pass all background screens as required by the state.
